Bristol self-catering studio

In a nutshell..

Self-contained studio + 2 parking spaces hard-standing: 1 studio room with 1 superking double bed (or 2 singles), 1 double sofabed, 1 cotbed & kitchen (microwave, cooker, oven, under-counter fridge-freezer, washer-dryer), 32″ freeview TV, private shower room/toilet (walk-in power shower), central heating. 2 mins from major bus route, 2 miles from Temple Meads, 20 mins by bus to Bristol centre , 10 min walk to Tesco Superstore. Superfast broadband & wifi. Approx 15x30ft plus shower room.

More about the studio

The lodge is self-contained & private with a private kitchen & bathroom (walk-in shower room). It’s light & airy. The super-king bed can turn into two singles, & the sofa bed is a double. There is a cot if you’re travelling with a little one. The parking space can accommodate one normal-sized/family car and one smaller (ie shorter!) car if needed.

A low-carbon home-from-home

The lodge is solar-panelled, and there is an electric car charger for Nissan Leaf and some Japanese vehicles (additional cost to use by arrangement), for an almost zero emission stay.

Access

You will have access to the whole studio building including kitchen and bathroom. The garage attached will be out of bounds (as it is serving as storage space for us, but your parking is infront of the garage door). There will be no access to the garden, primarily because we have a large (wolf-like) dog who seems to find his way into the whole of the garden no matter how much we try to secure it. Sorry!!

Parking

Parking is near the bottom of a parking access lane which is currently a bit dark so please call if you can’t find it, and we’ll guide you in.

If you need anything

If you need anything at all you only have to call. We’ll be at the other end of the phone (and the garden!) if you need anything. Otherwise you’ll have all the privacy you desire, with the exception of perhaps seeing us driving off and back. Please read the FAQ in the lever arch file if you have questions, and of course, ask us too!

Location and Public Transport

We are two miles from Temple Meads Station on a major bus route (the A37). We’re also a 7-10 minute walk from the Beechmount Grove bus stop for the A4 Bristol Airdecker bus that can take you to the airport in 26 minutes and Bath in about 30 minutes. There is a bus stop just across the road from us (Greenleaze bus stop on Wells Road) which takes you into town and the station every 10 – 15 minutes. The bus stop to get back is two houses down from the front of our house so extremely convenient.

We’re 12-15 minutes by bus to Temple Meads (buses 2 and 36 from Greenleaze stop towards Bristol). Going out of Bristol, the no. 376 will get you to Wells, Glastonbury and Street.

Local Sports Facilities and Public Spaces

There is a swimming pool only a five-minute walk from the lodge (Jubilee Swimming Pool) via walkway, and a nature conservation area a similar distance away (callington nature reserve) down the lane and down a hill. Three streets (10 min walk) away there is an entrance to award-winning Arno’s Vale Cemetery (and a park!), where Doctor Who (weeping angels) and Sherlock (Abominable Bride) were both filmed. Callington Nature Reserve is a five-minute walk too, down two sets of steps. Broadwalk shopping centre is also a short distance away for supplies, as is a large Tescos (about a mile’s drive, with a petrol station) on Callington Road, and also a Lidl further down from Tescos.

Food

As for food, there are Indian and Chinese takeaways just across the road and up a bit, as well as a pizza and kebab place. The Knowle Pub is a ten-minute walk away with local ales on tap, and there is a fantastic Moroccan BYO about a mile’s walk down the Wells Road too. Tell ’em we said hi!

One key will give you access to what you need. The front door key for the studio (which has a separate entrance) and the key to the back gate padlock are the same key. Call us when you first arrive and we’ll show you everything you need to know!

If you have children, please make sure they do not wander into the garden unattended as we have two ponds (and that large dog we mentioned earlier).

Last Minute Monster Shop

As part of our commitment to spreading good karma, our children run an “emergency rations” shop and share their profits with their chosen charities. All subject to availability of course.. 🙂

We welcome all

We would also like you to know that we celebrate the diversity of our guests and welcome all no matter what race or religion. We are LGBTQ / gay friendly.
